From Invisible to Visible

Some people are born knowing how to use their voice. I wasn't one of them.

I grew up with a severe stutter. Not the kind you push through with a deep breath and a bit of confidence. The kind that makes you dread your own name being called in class, that makes ordering food in a restaurant feel like a performance you're going to fail, that makes you genuinely wonder whether you'll ever be able to say what you mean to the people who matter.

Finding my voice took years. And when I finally did, it happened in the most unexpected place: on a stage, singing.

I spent 20 years performing as a singer and songwriter. And somewhere in that time, the stutter lost its grip. Not because I cured it, but because I found a context where I could be completely myself, where the words came from somewhere deeper than fear.

That experience changed everything about how I understand communication, confidence, and what it actually takes to be seen and heard.

From the stage to the camera

In 2003 I established my coaching, training and speaking business. I'd spoken to thousands of people from stages around the world. I'd trained coaches at The Coaching Academy, the world's largest coach training organisation, since 2007. I was comfortable in front of an audience.

And then I got in front of a camera for the first time to make a video for my business.

I fell apart.

It's almost like I was that kid again, standing in front of the class, wondering where my voice had gone. The camera felt like a completely different thing from a stage, more intimate, more exposing, more permanent. And I had to find my voice all over again.

That experience is exactly why I do what I do now.

What I do today

I'm a camera confidence and presentation skills coach with over 20 years of experience. I work with coaches and experts who know their stuff but freeze when the camera comes on, helping them show up consistently and authentically on video in a way that attracts the right clients without requiring them to perform a version of themselves that doesn't feel real.

I deliver webinars and training for The Coaching Academy, run a small group coaching programme called From Invisible to Visible, and publish weekly videos on camera confidence and visibility on YouTube.

I also created an online course, Your First Digital Product, for coaches and experts who want to package their knowledge and sell it online.

I hold an FPSA (Fellow of the Professional Speaking Association) and am an NLP Master Practitioner and Trainer.
