The Power of Small Wins in a Coaching Business
Nov 05, 2025
When we think about success, it’s easy to picture the big moments — launching a new programme, signing a dream client, hitting a revenue goal, or seeing your YouTube video finally take off. Those moments matter. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned over 22 years in business, it’s that big wins are almost always built on a long trail of small ones.
The small wins are the moments that rarely get a headline — finishing a blog post, showing up for a client call even when you’re tired, sharing a video that didn’t feel perfect, sending that follow-up email, or simply keeping your morning routine on track for another week.
Each one might feel insignificant on its own. But added together, they’re the quiet compound interest of progress.
Why small wins matter so much
Small wins keep momentum alive. They remind you that even on days when you don’t feel especially inspired, you’re still moving forward.
And in coaching — or any business where you are the product — momentum is everything. It builds confidence, energy, and credibility. When you keep showing up, even in small ways, your audience notices. You begin to trust yourself again.
I’ve lost count of the times a coach or creator has told me, “I feel like I’m not getting anywhere.” And yet when we unpack their week, there are always a dozen small wins hidden in plain sight — a new post, a helpful client conversation, an idea for a workshop, or a note from someone who was inspired by their content.
How to spot (and celebrate) your small wins
Try this: at the end of each week, take five minutes to jot down your wins — big and small. You might be surprised at how much you’ve actually done.
Maybe you posted on social media three times. Maybe you finally updated your bio. Maybe you said no to something that didn’t fit your priorities.
That’s not “just life admin.” That’s progress.
Celebrate it. Because the way you measure your success determines how you feel about your business — and how you show up next week.
The ripple effect
Small wins don’t just make you feel good. They create ripples. Each small action leads to another — a comment turns into a connection, which turns into a conversation, which in turn can lead into a client.
The irony is that when you focus less on chasing big results and more on stacking small, meaningful actions, the big results tend to take care of themselves.
So this week, instead of asking, “Have I achieved enough?”* try asking, “What small wins can I celebrate today?”
Because in the long game of coaching and creating, small wins aren’t small at all. They’re the foundation of everything that matters.
