I Had to Hit Pause This Week (Here’s Why)
Oct 02, 2025
This week, I made a decision I don’t often make. I pressed pause.
I had a video recorded, but the edit wasn’t finished in time for my usual newsletter. Part of the reason is that I’ve been recovering from Covid — and while I’ve still been working, I just didn’t have the energy or headspace to create and publish a new video as I normally would.
So instead of pushing through and putting something out for the sake of it, I chose to pause.
And here’s what I’m realising: sometimes, the best way to move forward is to stop rushing and give yourself space. That pause — whether it’s a day, a week, or even just a deep breath — can be where the real clarity comes from.
In coaching, I see this all the time. Clients will sit with a tough question, resist the urge to answer straight away, and only after a moment of quiet does the real insight emerge. It’s the same in business. Pausing isn’t about losing momentum — it’s about protecting it.
Because when we never stop, we start making reactive choices instead of intentional ones. We fill the space instead of shaping it.
So my realisation is this: pausing isn’t failure. It’s strategy.
How about you? Where in your business (or life) could a pause actually help you move forward? Hit reply and let me know — I’d love to hear.
Next Tuesday, I’ll be back with the new video I’d planned for this week. But for now, I hope this short message is the nudge you need: give yourself permission to pause, without losing momentum.
Warm wishes,
Mike
