What Do Want Your Life To Be About?
I remember sitting in the audience with 12,000 other participants at
'Unleash the Power Within', Anthony Robbins' flagship seminar, in 2004. T he exercise was to get in touch with what motivated us, what made us excited - what we valued most about life.
To be honest, I'd done similar workshops and exercises before - but none
with so many other people, none with such a big personality on stage, and none at that moment in life.
I'm sure you like me know that sometimes we listen to something we've heard
before, yet this time we really hear it. Often referred to as a 'light-bulb' or 'a- ha' moment, it's the time when we finally
understand.
For me it was at UPW, spring 2004. The question asked was, 'what did I want
my life to be about?' I remember writing down a long list of life goals, aims, and ways I wanted to impact and add value to the world, things
like:
-
Turn my fledgling coaching practice into a huge success with clients around the
globe.
-
Write motivational books that inspire and motivate others.
-
Travel to places I'd dreamed about visiting since childhood.
-
Become a trainer.
-
Contribute 10% of everything I earn to charity.
-
To stand tall; in essence to be congruent with my values - to be brave enough to
really go for them.
Since then I've worked with what came up for me then, my 'best life' goals,
every day. One of the great questions that has helped me through has been to begin each new sunrise by asking myself, 'what do I want today to be
about'? It's kept me on target, as well as keeping hundreds of my clients aligned with their life purpose.
So let me ask you now, 'what do you want your life to be about'? Imagine sitting down one year from today and saying 'yes,
I'm living my life purpose' what would you be doing - and would anything be different from what you're doing today?
