The “I’m ACE!” 7 day challenge

No matter what area of life you're planning to improve, whether it be work, business, financial, relationship, health, etc, one of the best places to start is with self-belief. Having a deeply held, unshakable belief that 'yes, I'm a good person' immediately puts you in a forward position. So many walk around feeling not good enough, or that they don't deserve what they have, or want to have.

So, to begin 2007 off in the best possible way here's a short confidence building exercise for you - if you are up for the challenge that is! Called 'The 'I'm Ace!' 7 Day Challenge', I encourage you to begin right now, this very moment!

Statistics show that for the most part it's not so much how good you are or what you know that counts, rather than how good you think you are and what you think you know. What's that famous old quote from Henry T Ford... 'Whether you believe your can, or whether you believe you can't, you're probably right!'

Life Coaching...it's about building confidence

Step 1 is to write down each night for the next week 5 things that happened throughout the day that proved that you are ACE! A couple of friendly rules here; keep it simple, and don't pre-judge/be too harsh with yourself as to what merits you qualifying for 'ace' status.

Now if this doesn’t come naturally to you, you’re going to have to go out and make things happen. Don’t ignore the little things as well.

You include such things as complimenting someone, a good piece of work you did, the 30 minutes you spent with the kids when you would normally be watching TV – write down 5 things where you have added value to something or someone each day for 7 days.

GO FOR IT!

Challenge yourself for the next seven days to:

  1. Write out each 'I'm Ace' statement in the following format.
  2. 'I'm ace because when I...
  3. '...it meant that...
  4. '...which afterwards made me feel...
  5. '...in fact it made me feel absolutely ACE!'

After seven days are up, look back over your list and the work you've done, and feel truly amazed just how many times you step up, make an extra effort, in fact make a difference in you and everyone else's life. Then give yourself a firm pat on the back, telling yourself with absolute certainty, 'I am truly ace!'

Remind yourself of this exercise every time you're not feeling good enough, beaten up by life, or just a little low on energy.

And finally, as I say to my private coaching clients, the secret to the success of this or any other life enhancing tool is simply to use it! That's it!! Write it down in your diary, print it up as a screen saver on your computer - remind yourself, remind yourself, remind yourself (repetition also works), so that the time you really do need to give yourself a much needed boost you will indeed use an exercise as simple, and as powerful as this.

Enjoy.
