Healthy Eating

...without giving up your favourite treats!

One of the hardest aspects of healthy eating and attaining or maintaining optimum health often occurs when clearing out the so called 'bad stuff' from our diet.healthy eating Let me ask, does healthy eating conjure up positive images and fun, or more painful thoughts of being hungry and missing out on the treats you enjoy most?

The more you know you should give it up, the more you can think about nothing else! Think chocolate, sweets, donuts, burgers, fries, pizza - the list really does go on! The tastier the treat, the harder giving it up is.

Therein lies the problem. Giving up, as the old song says, 'is hard to do'. So, how would it be to cut it down instead of giving it up?

With Hypnosis clients seeking weight management and/or better health, much better results are gained when the expectation of 'lack' is re-framed to one such as 'vitality', 'abundance', or 'celebration'. Developing a new, more positive dialogue with food, rather than suddenly having no conversation at all sets healthier living and healthier food choices up to succeed, rather than fail as most diets usually do. Rather than suggesting the need to give up a food you genuinely love, how would it be to work towards reducing its appearance in your diet? With that slight shift, suddenly success is possible, rather than the biggest fear of all, failure.

The 'Zig & Zag' approach is, like driving from one side of the road to another, the ability to steer clear of the unhealthy food for increasing amounts of time, and then still being able to eat it as a treat. Over a period of time, for example, two bars of chocolate a day could be reduced to one, then half, a couple of squares, then a couple of squares every couple of days, weekly, monthly, and then finally perhaps as a treat - so the for you love is never really eradicated.

Over a short time, a person learns to be in control of the desire for a particular food, rather than the desire being in control of them. This, combined with a couple more easy techniques can make the difference between yet another failed diet, or one long term shift change that leads to a lifetime of success.

  • What is it you need to reframe in your diet right now?
  • What, if you were able to reduce and take control of, would be the key to the door of a healthier, more vibrant lifestyle for you?
  • When are you committed to starting it?
  • What support might you need along the way?

...remember, having a plan makes you more likely to succeed.
