FAQs
What is life coaching? Coaching is about moving from where you are now to where you want to
be in the future. Above all, it’s a conversation between you and your coach, though with an objective, to achieve whatever it is you identified
as your goal at the beginning. Don’t worry if you’re in a state of flux or unease when you come to coaching, as some people choose coaching to
find clarity and develop a plan, whereas others already know they want to achieve x, y or z.
What is the difference between coaching and counselling? Coaching looks towards
the future. It recognises and respects the past, but then moves on from it in a pro-active and energised way. Coaching means taking action.
Counselling is about understanding what happened and how that may have affected us in the past. It can be to understand and ultimately let go
of trauma, however it does not create an action plan for the future. Coaching does.
Life Coaching...what would you do
if you knew you couldn't fail?
Should therapists be professionally trained and accredited? Yes. Legally speaking in
most countries, this is not a requirement at the moment (though that will change in a few years). However, I believe it is imperative for
a any professional to train, as this will enhance and widen their knowledge of the subject, take on board new advances and techniques,
as well as make them ‘cutting edge’ in their approach to personal development. Accreditation is a recognised way of identifying that your coach
has been pro-active in his or her own personal development.
What’s NLP? Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is like having an
owner's manual for the brain. It is the science of how the brain codes learning and experience. This coding – your internal thoughts –
affects all communication; behavior, how you learn and how you perceive the world you live in. It’s also your key to reaching and achieving
your goals.
The 'Neuro' part of NLP acknowledges that all behaviour stems from our neurological processes; sight, hearing, smell,
touch, taste and feeling. You experience the world through your five senses, and making sense of that information and then acting on it is
unique to us all. 'Linguistic' indicates the use of language to order our though ts and behaviour, as well as to communicate and interact with others. The 'Programming' refers to ways we can choose to organise
our ideas, in repetitive behaviour and actions that then produce our results.
So NLP deals with the
relationship between what we think (Neuro), how we communicate (Linguistic), and how they cause us to use our patterns of behaviour
(Programming). I like to call it ‘the
science of communication, of understanding why we do what we do’.
What
can NLP be used for? Many businesses use NLP to achieve greater success,
which in business means greater results and higher profit margins.
For personal 1-2-1 appointments you can expect
to:
- Deal with
negative or unsupportive beliefs.
- Free yourself
of repressed memories, such as those of abuse, bullying, and insecurity.
- Cure phobias,
such as spiders, heights, public speaking, etc.
- Achieve your
goals!
- Improve
relationships and communication.
- Break that
rut.
- Create
powerful new internal visualizations (ideal life)!
- Communicate
quickly, effectively and more easily.
- Recognize and
enjoy the opportunities in your life more than ever.
What is Hypnosis? Hypnosis, when practiced by a legitimate provider, is approved for clinical use by
the World governing body, the International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association. Even though more relaxed than most have ever
previously experienced, hypnosis is an awake state where you remain in total control at all times, able to open your eyes and remember
everything completely at will.
What is Hypnosis used
for? Weight loss, stammering, smoking
cessation, confidence, studying, speed-reading… the list really is almost endless.
Do I have to sign a contract for coaching, NLP or Hypnosis? No - we don’t sign a contact for
life, so you should not have to sign a contract for Life Coaching, NLP or Hypnosis. Rather, we should have an intention to coach to the best of
our abilities. Again, in that we have a moral code that we adhere to, in coaching we have a code of ethics. Words such as respect, commitment,
confidential, punctual, and honest are mentioned. For a full code of ethics contact your coach.
